Surprise! Another big storm is headed our way. Right now the predictions have Hurricane Ike making landfall southwest of Galveston. That would put us on the “dirty” side of the storm, so the rotation of the storm will push a higher storm surge our way. As always, we’re getting prepared at work, and we’re ready if we need to board up the house and evacuate. I think Wednesday or early Thursday we will make the call on whether to evacuate or not. We will keep you posted! Oh, and a friend at work found a new website that compiles all the pretty graphics from the major weather websites around the internet. Check it out at http://www.spaghettimodels.com/. One more thing. Did I mention we are in a drought here in South Texas? Kinda ironic, don’t ya think? 09/01/08
We finally completed a project that has been a long time in work. Mom sent some picture frames she found that go really well with the boxes on our living room wall. I’ve had the pictures printed out and framed for a long time…and now they’re finally on the wall! Check it out: ![]() It’s hard to see, but the pictures are (from left to right) a canal in Venice, a walkway just outside the Alamo in San Antonio, and (the only we didn’t take) the Internation Space Station from STS122/1E (Feb. 2008) with the newly installed European Columbus module. In addition, Travis got the back door and front window recaulked…just in case. 08/31/08
I took a photo of my sad moment on Saturday when I wanted to watch the beginning of the season opening game for the University of Texas. It’s. Just. Wrong. ![]() Ok, why is this wrong?
At least Texas won. No, I didn’t buy the PPV, and so I didn’t watch it. -Travis 08/29/08

We took the Trans Am to the Dent Guy today to get a few pesky door dings removed. Well, it took 4.5 hours (we left and came back), but the dents are now gone! Yay! And for much cheaper than traditional body work. Basically he pushes the dent out from the back using a variety of metal tools. We asked if he could do the same on the Suburban, and he laughed. Apparently you need a shiny surface to work with, since he uses reflections to tell where the tool is working. And the Suburban is many things, but shiny is not one of them. Oh well. Next time, we’ll see if we can get the Sunfire worked on. -Travis |
